The production of cylinder heads requires a thorough hardness testing after heat treatment. Makkon GmbH has developed a state-of-the-art HRC 150 (Rockwell) cylinder head test stand specifically for a Chinese customer. This system allows for flexible and programmable hardness testing at up to six different locations.

The hardness testing stand is an integral part of a fully automated heat treatment line and is operated by a robot. The measurement results of the test points are directly transmitted to and stored in the central process control system. The machine is equipped with a robust Siemens S7 control system and servo-controlled synchronous motors in all axes. As a result, a complete test cycle with six test points can be performed in less than a minute.
